Teen accused of threatening to bomb school!

Bond was set this morning at $150,000 for a Bensenville teenager who allegedly threatened on his Facebook page to bomb Fenton High School.
Eric Stout, 17, of the 800 block of Dolores Drive, was also ordered by DuPage County Judge Michael Wolfe to undergo a psychological examination.
Assistant State's Attorney Cathy DeLaMar told Wolfe that an acquaintance of the defendant saw the posting late Sunday evening and called police.
Stout is charged with felony disorderly conduct-making a deadly threat.
DeLaMar said the defendant told police that he was only kidding, but that he had previously been declared a juvenile delinquent for having set his house on fire.

  1. Wow. This kid is crazy. He had been declared a juvenile delinquent for setting his own house on fire. He then threatens to bomb the school over Facebook. I think that this kid has issues and should talk to someone professional about what he's feeling because he's obviously got some problems.

  2. I'm sorry but anyone who threatens to bomb a school is either crazy or crazier. Even if he said he was kidding, what did he expect to happen when he made that his facebook status? He already had a history of delinquent behavior so this had to be taken seriously. He deserves any punishment he gets.

  3. I beleive anyone has the right to post somnething like that on their facebook. Someone could just say that because they are mad, but knowing his previous actions, setting his house on fire, he probably was not joking and should be charged.

  4. The judge is doing a great job with this kid by ordering him to get a phsycological examination. There is obviously something wrong with this kid and I am glad that some one called the police before he bombed the school. This kid deserves every punishment handed down to him and I am glad that he is getting some help!

  5. I think that the kid should be charged for what he said. I also agree that he should have psychological examination. No normal person would burn down their own house, so someone should try to talk some sense into him. The police had to do the safe thing and arrest him because of his previous record.

  6. This guy is crazy he should just be put into a mental facility and get checked out. If not that be sent to a bording school where he cann be looked after, and a psychatrist could see if this kid is insane.

  7. This kid has some problems! he might have been kidding, but he cannot put that on facebook. He did set his house on fire though sooooooo you never know he can be mentally unstable. He should be charged for what he did.

  8. I feel like if someone would actually post something on facebook that extreme then they deserve to have some consequences. Bomb threats are not something to take lightly. It is good that this kid got sent for a phsycological examination before he did something. Even if he was kidding there is something wrong with someone who says that.

  9. He should be charged for what he said. It's normally not okay to bomb your school. Due to his previous crime, he should be checked out and/or punished.

  10. Obviously he is going to tell everyone he is kidding. But bombing your school is not something to kid around about. And givin this kids past, the people of the school have a right to take his threat seriously.

  11. I think that this ruling was a bit harsh. It may have been a good idea to somehow watch the kid, but I think throwing him in jail with such a high bond is excessive. Our school gets at least 1 bomb threat a year and other high schools get at least three times that and no one is ever put in jail. I don't believe that he should be incarcerated, however, his ordered psychological examination I do feel is a good idea.

Even if he said he was kidding, what did he expect to happen when he made that his Facebook status? Bombing your school is not something to kid around about. And given this kids past, the people of the school have a right to take his threat seriously.

  13. I agree with the kid's punishment 100% because something like this is not a joking matter. His supposed "joke" could kill so many innocent kids and is not funny. I would think he is saying that it is a joke because he is now in trouble. This needs to be taken seriously and is not funny.

  14. With everything that has happened recentaly, we need to take bomb threats very seriousaly. This kid sounds crazy and based on his previous conduct he should be charged for this comment.

  15. That kid deserves that punishment. Bomb Threats are not funny. I don't know if that if he just wants attention or not, he still needs to be punished.

  16. I'm sure everyone has dreamed of blowing up their school after a rough night of homework, but this kid was stupid enough to post it on facebook and he is also an arsonist and possibly an arsassin. He should be put away and is a danger to society.

  17. Stince he had a previous record i can understand the severity of the situation, so i think what is happening is fair.

  18. I think that people say things sometimes that they don't really mean but I think this kid was serious. He posted it as his status that everyone could see and after the fact that he actually set his house on fire I wouldn't put it past him to bomb his school. He got what was coming to him.

  19. This kid deserves his punishments. He shouldnt have posted that even if he was just joking. I dont think he was just messing around though. he set his house on fire before so either he is just an idiot or he is not mentally stable. This psych evaluation i think is needed.

I think that it was a good thing someone called the police. Especially since he had previsouly set his house on fire, I dont think he was kidding. Even though it may seem drastic, you should never post something like that for the public to see. The person who called the police prevented another tradgey like the one in columbine.

  22. I think this kid deserves to be punished. You can't joke about things like this especially when you have a previous record of arsine. This kid needs help and should be instutionalized.

  23. I believe that it is a good idea for the defendent to participate in a psychological examination. It seems that there it is a possibility that these threats could be real and the situation should be handled accordingly. While it is possible that he was not serious about what he said on Facebook, it should be taken seriously because there is a chance that it could be serious.

  25. i think that everyone has the right to say whatever they want on their fb page and i do understand how the school can get made and try to protect other students. but just because he has a past does not mean that he was serious this time.

  26. This teen is obviously mentally unstable. He is a danger to others and most likely himself and requires immediate psychiatric help. I feel like that would be a sufficient punishment, especially since he is still young in the eyes of the law and has not harmed anyone. If the legal system locks him up rather than sending him to a psychological institution, he will never be rehabilitated and maybe one day become a productive member of society. One must also look into why he would've made such a threat toward his high school. Did something happen there to him that angered or frustrated him so much that he would want to bomb it?

  27. This guy definatly needs to be charged with something. $150,000 is a little hefty though. I think that they should lower, it but still charge him because he did set his house on fire before the bomb threat so he is mentally unstable and should be looked after. And for the only kidding part that totally bs, he meant it but he doesnt want to get in trouble, it his fault for being an idiot and posting that on facebook.

  28. This guy is a repeat offender who lit his own house on fire. I feel like his threat to blow uo his own school and did it over facebook. Obviously this kid has problems. I agree completely with his punishment he needs to understand that this type of behavior isnt right that he can cause alot of people to panic and become fearful for their safety. The punishment is just because he should have it on his record so people will know the kinds of things he has done before in his life. He needs to get is head checked out.
